Today’s LA blog post is brought to you by a rooftop lunch, a park visit and the letter Q (for Queen)!
I met up with my friend Gretchen for lunch today. She suggested The Roof on Wilshire, which sounded lovely. She scored us a cabana with a great view, and we had a lot of fun talking shop as we are both event planners.
After lunch I stopped by the La Brea Tar Pits for a self guided tour. It’s just a few minutes from my apartment, right in the heart of LA. Fun fact: five million fossils from the past 55,000 years make La Brea Tar Pits the world’s most important ice age fossil dig and research site. And what’s even crazier is that there are no dinosaur bones at this site, because, you know, they were extinct for 65 million years by the time the tar pits occurred. Oh and it’s not really tar, but that’s enough education for this blog! Let’s get back to food and fun!
During lunch I talked Gretchen into joining me for Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s. I’m so happy she came with, not only because it was that much more fun with her there, but because she’s showed me the ropes! Oh and she had free passes! The lovely Portia was our drag queen host for the evening, and after about three minutes we were totally connecting and she was calling me a slut. As if! I knew this was going to be a hoot (heck, I was going to go by myself because I thought it would be so much fun), but it exceeded my exceptions. And did I mention that Legendary Bingo benefits local, national and international charities? Love it!! Definitely a highlight of my trip.
