Day 22: Downtown

I remember when I came out to visit Jenny J like 10 years ago she said that no one really hangs out downtown. Apparently that is changing, because I was downtown today, and it was a blast!

My first stop was Grand Central Market. It was bustling with people looking for bite to eat. Gretchen and I made our way through the crowds and ended up at Madcapra. The food was great (I got the green and she got the yellow so we could share), and we enjoyed sitting at their “bar” chatting with the staff.

After the market we stopped by Perch. We’re talking great views and live music in a comfortable but upscale space. I definitely want to go back there when I have more time and check out the menu.

Our next stop was the Biltmore Hotel to get a quick peak at the Pretty in Pink hallway. You know…the one from prom night when Andie almost doesn’t go in, but then she sees Duckie on the stairs? Great film. Beautiful hotel.

Finally, Gretchen and I end up at Nick & Stef’s Steakhouse. They were kind enough to let us use their patio for an OU alumni wine tasting event. There were about 25 Bobcats in attendance, and it was so fun to spend the afternoon with such a great group of people.

Unfortunately I had to duck out of the tasting early, but it was to go pick up Keith! Yay! He seemed pretty beat from a full day of travel, so we just made a quick stop down to Hermosa Beach. We got a bite to eat and watched the second half of the CAVS game. The Wine & Gold weren’t able to continue their sweep record, but it was nice to be able to watch the game with my favorite guy.

Can you tell which person lives in Cleveland (hint: the one in the tank top) and which person lives in LA (hint: the one in the hoodie and the wool peacoat)?
